A product becomes a style icon when it withstands the test of time. Function and aesthetics are so integral to it that with time, not only does it not go out of fashion but it also becomes a reference point for everyone.

This is precisely what happened with the standard pot. It’s an example of “anonymous design” that has become a part of everyone’s heritage, in every culture worldwide. And it’s for this reason that, rather than overlooking it for its ordinariness, the Standard Pot symbolises our manufacturing art.

With its pure and simple form, the Standard Pot is the epitome of all terracotta pots – it wasn’t called that by chance. “Standard” means a reference model to which one conforms and is thus the basis of the concept of a style icon.

Round, flared upward, with a rim: when you think about a terracotta pot, it’s impossible not to think about these qualities. It’s an indelible image, imprinted in our memory; we’ve seen these types of pots in every house and garden in our country since childhood.

Thanks to its archetypal shape, the standard pot has been the focus of two art projects we have collaborated on.

Vaso 10X, by Lucio Serpani, is a pot made of standard pots which were intentionally chosen by the Venetian artist to make an ancient object that belongs to all cultures of the world, with origins no one can claim, symbolic.

Invasi is an art installation inaugurated in May 2023 at Certosa Island in Venice, as part of the Biogrounds project, an initiative by the MAXXI in Rome. It is an experiential space that bridges the gap between humankind and the environment, featuring colonies of terracotta pots of various sizes that blend into the landscape, ultimately becoming an active part of it.

Technique and passion have been the two pillars at the heart of our production, for more than sixty years.
